Pairing prominent locals with dance pros
FOR A FUNDRAISER LIKE NO OTHER
Similar to the popular television show, Dancing with the Williamsburg Stars offers respected people like you a unique challenge—to train with a professional dancer and perform in front of a live audience and distinguished panel of judges (who will make only positive remarks!).

As a star, your "legwork" involves not only dancing, but fundraising! You'll commit to raising at least $5,000 through ticket sales, sponsorships and donation votes. It's part of the fun—getting your friends, family, and colleagues to cheer you on, whether from the audience or a donation screen. It lets them show support to you personally, and also to raise money for two exceptional nonprofits. Don't miss this once-in-a-lifetime experience of professional dance training and performance.

FAQ
When are rehearsals?
They will take place at dates and times you work out with your partner. The rehearsal period is October to February.

What if I still don't know the routine after my 10 free practice sessions?
You may pay for additional rehearsals at a rate decided between you and your dance pro.

What if I want to dance but not do fundraising?
All stars must commit to raising at least $5,000—but we try to make this as painless as possible. Past stars have found many fun and creative ways to do this, which we will share with you. Professional marketers on our event committee have compiled great fundraising tips and are always willing to help.

Why am I asked to raise so much money?
You were selected as a star because of your respected standing in the community. We're counting on your charisma and connections to maximize our fundraising total. This event is very important to Literacy for Life and Big Brothers Big Sisters, as one of their premier annual fundraisers.

Do sponsors and ticket sales I bring in count toward my $5,000?
No, those are considered separate (but strongly encouraged!) We need to keep it fair to all stars, and some naturally have jobs that could make it easy to get a single $5,000 sponsor while others have to put in weeks of "legwork" for donors.

Are the donations tax-deductible?
Donations and sponsorships are tax deductible (as permitted by law), but tickets are not.

Can I get free tickets for my family & friends?
You will receive two tickets for your guests, including admission to the VIP reception prior to the show. Beyond that, it's your role to encourage family and friends to purchase tickets, since this is a fundraiser.
